In 1248, King Fernando III took over the old Almohad capital. Though the Christian conquest altered life in Sevilla, the Moorish legacy persisted in its architecture and people. In part because King Fernando III and his Court spared the city’s most emblematic architectural gems like La Giralda, a 12th century minaret reminiscent of the most stunning mosques found in the Morocco or Algeria.
