A Custom Fajalauza Lebrillo to Welcome a Newborn Baby

We’ve recently had the pleasure of customizing a lebrillo for our youngest client yet. Baby J’s father commissioned this lebrillo to mark the coming birth.

This personalized lebrillo bowl features our Garza design with the initials of the mother, the father and the newborn. 

The word lebrillo is the Spanish diminutive of the Latin labrum, an extra large basin used for baths. Now, Baby J will not need a 80cm wide lebrillo just yet. We’ve made them a 50cm lebrillo, more than enough room to splash around for their first bath time.

As is common in households in southern Spain, lebrillos are passed down from generation to generation. Decorated with intricate designs, these handmade basins have become a sought-after collector’s item. What a wonderful rite of passage.
