This set of decorative ceramic plates features the 6-point star in the form of a stylized flower. The petals show a cross-hatched pattern. A set of two concentric circles frame the central motif: a small flower either filled in with color or the cross-hatched scheme. Bathed in a milk-white glaze and decorated in cobalt blue.
This piece falls within a period of Castilian pottery history when authorial attribution became the norm. Besides the monogram, ECF, this plate features the light sandy clay typical of pottery from Puente del Arzobispo.
During the second third of the XX century, some Puente painters began to leave a mark on their ceramics as new workshops opened, producing a little bit of everything, even absorbing influences from Andalucia, Aragon, or Levante.
Signed ECF by Emiliano de la Cal Fraile who began his apprenticeship in the family shop, Santa Fe Factory, in 1948.
Dimensions: 20cm in diameter x 3.5cm deep
Hanging your decorative plate: A small incision in the foot of the plate allows for hanging. Our heavier items like lebrillos require a wall mount.
