Our Chestnut Brown Nenúfar Lebrillo With White Border is a nod to the Nasrids’ love of greenery. The Arab cultures that flourished in Andalusia before the 15th century had a keen appreciation for lush grounds where flowing water was an essential element. The water lily which they called nilufar abyad, adorned their fountains and ponds.
Traditionally, the lebrillo worked as a laundry sink or mixing bowl in the kitchen. Decorated in ornate patterns, this once indispensable household item has outgrown its utilitarian role in the home.
Cherished among collectors for its decorative value, our Fajalauza lebrillo designs embrace Nasrid-style geometric patterns, vegetal motifs and depictions of regional birdlife.
This Nenúfar lebrillo features a tin-white glazed rim though it is also available with a rustic terracotta finish.
