The Nasrid kingdom of Granada accomplished amazing feats with water. In their religion, “water was the origin of life, a symbol of purity that acts as a purifying agent for the body and soul,” says Rocío Díaz Jiménez, Director General of the Alhambra.
They built enormous irrigation systems to carry water upward to the semi-arid hilltop of the Alhambra, to feed public fountains and fill small ponds in their courtyards. The sound of flowing water, cherished by the desert people who conquered southern Spain in the 8th century, became the soundtrack to life in Granada.
Inspired by this legacy, we create unique hand-painted ceramic sinks for the home.
